ASAA - Journal Vol. 6 (2), 2000, Special publication

American Society for Amateur Archaeology - ASAA Volume 6 (2), 2000, Special publication. To the Rim of the World: Death and Burial at an Eastern Iroquoian Site.

This publication is a monograph (86 pp.) by R.M. Gramly with an appendix authored by Z. Bieniulis and R.M. Gramly. It is entitled TO THE RIM OF THE WORLD: DEATH AND BURIAL AT AN EASTERN IROQUOIAN SITE. Included are a frontispiece, 8 figures, and 44 plates.

This investigation focuses upon a partly destroyed aboriginal cemetery at the Erie Indian Kleis site (first half of the 17th century), Erie Co., western New York state. The Iroquois destroyed the Kleis village during the "fur trade wars" or wars of Iroquois expansion, 1630-1680. An argument is made for changing ceramic styles in step with generations of Erie Indians.
